The Grand Forks KnightRiders took to the road for the first weekend in December, as they traveled to Dickinson on Friday, Dec. 7, to take on the Dickinson Midgets, rolling to a 6-2 win over Dickinson in league play Friday night. A three-goal first period, capped off with three points from Abby Schauer, put the KnightRiders ahead for good. Dickinson's two goals came in the second period. “I thought we did some good things tonight offensively,” Head Coach Alex Hedlund said. “We moved the puck well, and crashed the net hard. We cruised to a 3-0 lead in the first, but Dickinson came out hard in the second to cut the lead to one. I was proud of our perseverance to put the game away in the third.” The Schauer, Stenseth, Richards line was really clicking with Abby (Schauer) scoring three, Shay (Richards) one, and Morgan (Stenseth) one, and sharing assists on the goals. The second period saw two goals by the KnightRiders, giving Grand Forks a 5-2 lead heading into the third period. Hannah Gray got the KnightRiders final goal of the game at the 5:20 mark of the third period. Emilee Ziegler improved to 1-1 on the season, stopping 16 of 18. “Ziegler did some really good things as well,” Hedlund said. The KnightRiders improved to 4-1 with the win.
