The Grand Forks KnightRiders had their Crookston Tournament debut pushed back a day due to Blizzard Alex (Hedlund), but when it came down to gametime, the KnightRiders blitzed Park Rapids in a 7-1 rout at the Crookston Sports Center. "We started slow, but turned it on and played some good hockey in our o-zone," Head Coach Alex Hedlund said. "The Park Rapids goalie made some good saves." A goal by Morgan Stenseth was the difference maker. Stenseth put one past the Crookston goalie with just over three minutes to go, putting the KnightRiders ahead, for good, 2-1. That was the first of three goals by Stenseth against Park Rapids. Park Rapids scored first at the 2:09 mark of the first period, a goal by Shailyn Pachel. It was all Grand Forks from there. Grand Forks picked up three powerplay goals in the hockey game. The KnightRiders finish 2018 with a record of 6-4, and a conference record of 5-3. They are tied for third with West Fargo United. The KnightRiders will head to Fargo Davies on Jan. 3 to take on the Eagles, before a non-conference game on Jan. 8 at East Grand Forks.
