GRAND FORKS, ND – The Grand Forks KnightRiders have named their captains for the 2019-2020 hockey season, according to sixth year head coach Alex Hedlund. The KnightRiders have named senior forward Anna Robinson as their captain, and senior Haily Stenberg, along with juniors Shaley Richards and Hannah Gray as the assistant captains. The team has evaluated last year—and has set lofty goals. “We have all agreed we want more out of this coming season, and I believe this leadership team will help us get there,” Hedlund said. Anna Robinson Robinson, a senior, didn’t see the ice for the KnightRiders last season, after having hip surgery in October. “Anna is a natural leader, who has a passion for the game, and to see her and her teammates succeed. Anna was out all last season after suffering a hip injury last year that resulted in a hip surgery this past October,” Hedlund said. “She was finally able to get a couple shifts in the state tournament, after being cleared a few days prior for game play. Anna worked hard all season to get her strength back, and never missed a practice or game other than for physical therapy.” Hedlund gives credit to Robinson’s experience on the bench last year. “I believe Anna’s experience from the “sideline” last year, and the will to get back on the ice for her senior year, will help her in leading our team,” she said. In 41 career games, Robinson has one goal and four assists for the KnightRiders. Haley Stenberg Stenberg, a senior, appeared in 25 games for the KnightRiders last season, scoring three goals and five assists. In 102 career games, she has 13 goals and 21 assists. “Haily brings her knowledge of our program as this will be her fifth and final season as a KnightRider,” Hedlund said. “Haily has played in a lot of big games over the years for us and has her experience to help lead our squad.” Shaley Richards Richards, a junior, appeared in 25 games for the KnightRiders last season, scoring 13 goals and 17 assists. In 48 career games, she has 14 goals and 19 assists. “(Shaley) Richards is a natural leader,” Hedlund said. “She has a tremendous passion for the game.” Hannah Gray Gray, a junior, appeared in 25 games for the KnightRiders last season, scoring two goals and six assists. In 50 career games, she has three goals and eight assists. “(Hannah) Gray, just like Shaley, is a natural leader,” Hedlund said. “She has a tremendous passion for the game.”
